After-School Program: Exploring the Universe
Ages 6 to 12 Years
Enrichment and Real-World Research
The Five Great Lessons
We use grand storytelling to introduce the Big Bang, the coming of life, the history of humans, and the evolution of language and numbers. These stories serve as a “springboard” for independent research, where children can dive deep into topics like chemistry, botany, or ancient civilizations.
Applied Mathematics & Geometry
Beyond the basics, students explore the history of math and the geometry of the world. They might use “Geometry Sticks” to build complex polygons or “Racks and Tubes” to master long division, turning abstract formulas into tangible discoveries.
Community & Leadership
As social beings, 6-to-12-year-olds are deeply interested in justice and fairness. Our program encourages collaborative projects and “Going Out” (planning their own micro-field trips to research a topic), helping them develop the organizational and leadership skills needed for the 21st century.
